short fairy tale that I created :

The Princess and the Pea

Once upon a time, there was a prince who wanted to marry a princess. He traveled all over the world, looking for a real princess, but he could not find one. He met many princesses, but they were either too proud, too vain, or too spoiled. He was very sad and returned to his kingdom,

One night, there was a terrible storm. The rain poured down, the thunder roared, and the lightning flashed. Suddenly, there was a knock on the castle door. The king opened it and saw a young girl standing outside. She was soaked from head to toe, and her clothes were muddy and torn.

Who are you?  the king asked.

“I am a princess,” the girl said.

The king was doubtful, but he invited her in. He told his wife, the queen, that they had a guest. The queen wanted to test if the girl was a real princess. She ordered her servants to prepare a bed for her in the guest room. She took twenty mattresses and piled them up on the bed. Then she took a single pea and placed it under the bottom mattress.

The girl slept on the bed that night. The next morning, the queen asked her how she had slept.

“Very badly,” the girl said. “I could not sleep at all. There was something hard in the bed that hurt me all over. I am bruised and sore.”

The queen was amazed. She knew that only a real princess could have felt the pea through twenty mattresses. She told the king that the girl was indeed a real princess. The king was overjoyed. He asked the girl to marry his son, the prince. The girl agreed, and they had a grand wedding.

The pea was kept in the royal museum as a proof of the princess’s sensitivity. And they lived happily ever after.

The end.
